Can ChatGPT read your Site? Your Pet will tell you.

Paste one line and a small animal moves into the corner of your pages. It shows whether your Site is up and visited, and tells you, privately, what AI assistants see of it and say about it.

The real Snippet at real size, showing Sable — our rarest animal, $75 a year. Cats, dogs and bunnies are free. Hover to pat Sable, or clickTap Sable to open its Card.

The Site is up, with visits as usual.

What SitePets is

It lives on your Site
One line of code puts your Pet in the bottom-right corner of every page. It stays out of the way, and visitors can tuck it away.
It shows how your Site is doing
We check that your homepage answers, and count page loads. A Site that’s down makes its Pet look poorly; fewer visits than usual make it grumpy.
It has neighbours
Every Pet also lives in a shared World. Visitors who find yours there can follow it home to your Site, and wander on to others.

What your Pet tells you about AI

Only you see this, in your dashboard. Every Pet gets it, free or adopted.

If a redesign or a plugin shuts AI search out by mistake, you get an email. Block training bots on purpose and we’ll leave you be.

Who’s let in
  • ChatGPT search let in
  • Claude assistant let in
  • Perplexity search let in
  • GPTBot training blocked
Each one is marked search, assistant or training, so blocking a training bot is never mistaken for hiding from AI search.

Some AI tools don’t run JavaScript. If your words only appear after scripts run, those tools see an empty page.

What AI says
“Tarn Ridge Hut is a mountain hut at 2,140 metres with twelve bunks, open from June to September and booked by the night.”
ChatGPT, October 14
Once a month, ask an assistant what it knows about your Site and read its answer word for word. There’s no score: answers change every time you ask.

Six animals, one per Site

Rarer animals are harder to keep in real life, and they look it. Rarity only changes how your Pet looks. Every Pet gets the same checks.

No account needed. Your Pet waits on your Site as an egg from the moment the line is there, and hatches a day after we find it.

Finish this on your computer

Pasting the line is a desktop job, and your line belongs to whichever browser opens this page. Open sitepets.com on the computer you edit your Site from, and pick up from here.

A few platforms only allow custom code on a paid plan. If yours is one, it’s noted under “Where to paste” below, so check before you start.

  1. Pick your animal, or keep the one chosen. You can change it later in your dashboard.

    Your Pet

Your Pet appears here in a moment.

  2. Copy your line. It’s made for your Site and your animal.
    Making your Site Key…
    One line, before </body>

Your line, and the right to Claim it, belong to this browser. It loads after your page, sets no cookies, and is under 2 KB. If anything on our side fails, your page simply shows no Pet.

  3. Paste it just before </body> and publish.
Where to paste it on your builder
    • CarrdA hidden Embed element at Body End. Needs Pro Standard or Pro Plus.
    • WordPressA footer-scripts plugin, or a Custom HTML block on a block theme.
    • ShopifyEdit code → theme.liquid, just above </body>.
    • SquarespacePages → Website Tools → Code Injection. Needs a Core, Plus or Advanced plan.
    • WixSettings → Custom Code, on a published site. Needs a Premium plan.
    • WebflowSite settings → Custom Code → Footer Code. Needs a paid Site or Workspace plan.
    • GhostSettings → Advanced → Code injection → Site Footer.
    • Plain HTMLStraight into your page, before </body>.
  4. Load any page of your Site. Your egg sits in the bottom-right corner, and this page checks for it.

Questions

What does the Snippet collect from my visitors?

One count per page load, sent with your Site Key and nothing else, except that a visit from an AI assistant’s answer adds a short code naming which assistant (never the address the visitor came from). It sets no cookies, stores nothing on the visitor’s device, and sends no identifier. We don’t keep IP addresses anywhere. Counts are kept per Site, per hour, never combined across Sites, and used only for your own Pet and your own stats.

What the Snippet does, in detail, with a paragraph for your privacy policy in German and English.

Will it slow my Site down?

The loader is under 2 KB and starts only after your page has finished loading. Your Pet is a few small images animated by the browser itself, with no script running per frame. If anything on our side fails, your page simply shows no Pet.

What am I paying for when I adopt?

A rarer animal for your Pet, a year at a time. Today’s charge covers your first year, which starts today. A Pet that is still an egg becomes that animal’s egg; one that has already hatched changes into the animal.

It renews yearly at the same price until you cancel, and cancelling keeps the animal until the end of the year you paid for. Prices include tax.

Can I get a refund?

Your year starts the day you pay, so it isn’t refundable after that, except where the law requires it or Link grants one. If we ever end an Adoption early for reasons that aren’t your fault, or shut SitePets down, we refund the unused part. The Terms have the details.

When does my Pet hatch?

A day after we find your line on your Site’s homepage. Until then it waits there as an egg. Once your Site is Claimed and passes a short content check, your Pet also gets its own Address in the World.

Who runs SitePets?

SitePets is operated by ManuSoft Inc, a US company. Payments are handled by Link, a Stripe company, which sells the adoption to you as merchant of record and takes care of sales tax and VAT.

One line, and one of them moves in.
